Regardless of the situation, you come out to get into your car and it’s not there. Where could it be? Who took it? Did it get stolen? Can they do that? Don’t worry, we’ve got answers! Here’s what you should do if your vehicle got towed.

Why Would Your Vehicle Get Towed Anyway?
Your vehicle could get towed for a variety of reasons. Some understandable, such as parking in a no parking area. Others less understandable, such as you vehicle’s alarm going off for a long time and causing unnecessary noise. Whatever the reason for the tow, it doesn’t really matter at the moment. Your first priority is to figure out where was your vehicle towed to.
How do You Locate the Vehicle Towed Away?
If your vehicle towed away, the first way to locate your vehicle would be to look around the area where you parked your car. You would likely get your vehicle towed when you have parked it somewhere it was not supposed to be parked. Whether you did it on purpose or by complete accident, that doesn’t really matter. If there happened to be a no parking sign by the place you parked, there’s a good chance your vehicle has been towed and you’ll have to call the number on the no parking sign.

If that does not work, or you cannot find a number, you may have to call your local police detachment. They will likely have a good idea of where your vehicle is located and can help you out. It’s important to know the make and model of your vehicle and have some of your basic personal information available. Just don’t dial 911 unless you know your vehicle has been stolen.
Picking up Your Vehicle
After finding out the location of your vehicle, you’ll now need to go pick it up. You’ll want to ensure that the impound lot that your vehicle towed to is not only open but also available to pick up at that time. You’ll want to also make sure you don’t forget your wallet. You won’t be driving away in your own car unless you pay the impound lot for the time spent in the lot.

If you got your vehicle towed because of an issue with the location that you parked, then you should be able to go and pay and be able to simply drive away. But if your vehicle has been towed for a different reason, such as too many parking tickets, then you’ll have to ensure that you go the right place where you can pay those off first before you can pick your car up.
